Guidelines for Data Providers
- For the experiment, a central repository is available for platform data, generated products, and sample information
- There is an FTP accessible file share available on the server beach.mbari.org
- If you do not have FTP experience, it is recommended to use
FileZilla, a free FTP client (http://filezilla-project.org/)- MBARI IS is reporting some difficulties with FileZilla after the move to the new Atlas file server. They now recommend using FireFTP, an FTP client addin for FireFox. http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

The directories that are bolded and underlined are the directories where NetCDF files will be located and then those files will be served through the ODSS THREDDS server and loaded into STOQS. |

- The goal is to have a web form in the ODSS that users fill out with information about their samples and then the ODSS creates a CSV file with the information about the samples that can be loaded into STOQS.

To send data products from personnel on the Western Flyer (WF) to shore:
- FTP to to malibu.wf.mbari.org if you are on the Flyer network
(or to 192.168.111.177 if you are on the vsat network)
as user:
canon
(p/w: canon2011)
- In there, there are several directories; the one you care about is '2012_Sep'.
Everything in this directory is what one sees in the lower left panel of the ODSS situational awareness perspective. - There are a couple of special directories
- 'roms'. This is a directory for the ROMS data files and this is pushed out to the WF. Only ROMS data files should be put here, nothing else. Do not add anything to this directory while on the WF - this directory is not mirrored back to shore
- 'misc'. This directory is the fully mirrored directory on the Flyer (5 minute refresh). If one puts something in this directory (either on shore (odds/beach) or on WF (malibu)) it will appear in both ODSS locations under the 'misc' tree item.
NOTE: be careful of file size in the misc directory: every file added to this directory sweeps to/from the WF over the vsat link, which is expensive, so use it with caution and wisely.
- 'roms'. This is a directory for the ROMS data files and this is pushed out to the WF. Only ROMS data files should be put here, nothing else. Do not add anything to this directory while on the WF - this directory is not mirrored back to shore
COSCI
For this campaign, please do not email large attachments (plots etc) to cosci@mbari.org. When you do, each recipient gets a copy of the attachment, which adds up if the email has gone over vsat system to the WF one by one to each recipient. Instead, ftp the attachment to the misc directory, and tell in your cosci@mbari.org email the name of the file you want people to look at. Then only one copy will transfer across vsat, saving money.
